MARY POLLY (WILLITS) LEWIS
Mary Polly Willits was the daughter of Rachel (Field) and Levi Willits of Pennsylvania. She was born on March 6, 1801 in Wayne County, Indiana, the third of nine children. Her siblings included; Robert, William, Sarah, Vashti, Hiram, (twins) James Monroe & Melissa, and Waldo. Hiram, Melissa and Waldo all died in childhood, Sarah migrated to Missouri after her marriage to James Scott, James went to Mercer County, IL where he married and raised a large family and all the rest of the siblings lived out their lives in Indiana.

Mary, known as Polly, was married to Caleb Lewis, son of Leah (Viney) and George Lewis, SR. They were united in marriage on October 21, 1819 in Wayne County, Indiana where they lived and raised their ten children.

Mary Polly died on August 20, 1869 in Wayne Co., Indiana at the age of 66y 7m 14d after battling cancer. She is buried in the Franklin Cemetery, Washington Twp., Wayne County, Indiana with her husband Caleb.
