In 1865 W. F. A. Bolender and his wife moved with his parents to Stephenson Co., Illinois. In 1881 he sold his farm near Rock Grove and moved to St. Joseph Co., Michigan where he bought a farm near Centreville. There he served for a time as undersheriff, for 15 years as supervisor for Lockport Twp. and for 12 years as a circuit court officer. He also served as a trustee at the Presbyterian Church.
