CROWLEY HELEN OSBORNE
Helen Osborne Crowley was 94 years old and died January 22, 2010 at her home in Falls Church, Virginia due to natural causes. Helen was born February 23, 1915 in Haymarket, Virginia and was the daughter of Fields H. Osborne and Georgie Bleight Osborne. She was the sister of George Osborne and the half sister of Joe Osborne, Haynes Osborne and Nannie Virginia Willis. Miss Osborne was married in Arlington, Virginia on April 22, 1944 to Raymond Woodbury Crowley. She is survived by her children Nancy Crowley Montgomery, Elizabeth Crowley Montgomery and Ray Woodbury Crowley. Her husband, Mr. Raymond Crowley died March 13, 1996. She was buried at St. Paul''s Episcopal Church in Haymarket, Virginia on Thursday, January 28 2010 at a graveside service. Helen Osborne Crowley was the great, great, great granddaughter of John Dunlap of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Dunlap, who was the printer to the Continental Congress, printed 200 broadsides of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, the date the final wording was approved. Mr. Dunlap was an officer in the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry and was later promoted to Major. He saw action with George Washington at the battles of Trenton and Princeton. In 1784, Dunlap started publishing the first successful daily paper published in the United States., The Pennsylvania Packet.
