Hebron Journal 8-16-1918:
Samuel Ira Tripp was born July 17th, 1860, at rochelle, Ill., and died Aug. 4th, 1918, at Hebron, Nebr. During his early childhood, his parents moved to Iowa, where they lived until the deceased was nineteen years old. In 1879, the family moved to Gage County, Nebraska.
On November 5th, 1882, he was married to Mary Elizabeth Arrasmith and to this union six children were born, four of whom survive: Delbert of Hebron, Lee Ernest of Cortez, Colo.; William Ira, with the 88th Division of the United States Army; and Edith Mary of Belvidere. His faithful wife departed this life on may 6, 1909. He is also survived by his father, three brothers, two sisters, six grand-children and a host of friends. The family have lived in Belvidere vicinity since 1894.
The funeral services were held from the Christian Church on Wednesday, Aug. 7th.
Mr. Tripp had been sick only a few days. He was operated on for gall stones on Tuesday of the previous week. He will be greatly missed, not only by his family and friends, but by the church in which he had been taking a very active part.
Two of the sons could not be present for the funeral, William who is with the U. S. Army and Lee, who arrived from Colorado the next morning.
