Funeral services for Christine Cole, 92, of Clovis, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday October 30, 2010, at the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Marlin Poyner officiating. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery with Justin Cole, Jared Cole, Logan Brown, Jeffery Eric Cole, Jay Cole, Jeffery D. Cole, and James V. Cole as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers for Christine will be all her great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
Christine was born on October 12, 1918, in Paint Bank, VA, to Simon A and Louie F. (Humphreys) Thompson and passed away on October 26, 2010, in Clovis. As a member of a Railroad family she was raised in Ripplemead, VA. Christine was a dedicated Homemaker to her family until everyone grew up and moved out, she then became the head Housekeeper for the Roanoke Hotel. She loved to play bingo and bowl.
Christine is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph James Cole; her son, Joseph Jackson Cole; great grandson, Jeremy Vencil Cole; her grandson, Larry Dean Cole; her granddaughters-in-law, Dolores Cole and Jeri Cole. Also preceding in death are her sisters, Audrey Davidson and husband, Bob, Mary Sawyer and husband, Jim, Ann Lancaster and Christine's brother, Trulyon Thompson.
Christian is survived by her sons, J.D. Cole and wife, Leta of Clovis, Bobby Cole and wife, Nelda of Portales; her daughters, Betsy Pollard and husband, Roger of Hagerstown, MD, and Phyllis Radford and husband, Jewel of Goldbond, VA. Also surviving Christine are her sisters, Lucille Duncan of Wytheville, VA, and Ruth Hamilton of Roanoke, VA; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
