MARCELLUS ETHELBERT HONEYMAN
Marcellus Ethelbert Honeyman, known as Marsh, was the second of four sons born to Martha Jane (Swallow) and William Jackson Honeyman. He was only 7 years old when his mother and youngest brother John passed away in 1864 while the family lived in Indiana.

Marsh's grandfather, David Honeyman and family emigrated from Indiana to Illinois with many other families. The wagon train is documented in Marsh's obituary stating, "Mr. Honeyman came to Illinois with the wagon train of the Honeyman family in the fall of 1864." His father William Jackson Honeyman had packed up his young family including his sons; Rolandus W. age 9, Marcellus Ethelbert age 7, and George Martine Douglas age 4 and joined the wagon train. Traveling with them was Miss Frances America Swallow, who was the cousin of Marsh's deceased mother, Martha. The families who came on the Honeyman wagon train settled in New Boston Township for a time before some of them moved on to Harvey County, Kansas after 1878.

Shortly after the family arrived in New Boston, Marsh's father married Frances Swallow and they had eight more children. Marsh's half siblings were:
Charles Ellsworth, b. abt 1866, Illinois;
Omer Stanfield, b. abt 1869, Illinois;
Rhoda Vashti, b. abt 1871, Illinois;
Mary Edna, b. abt 1873, Illinois;
William Bruce, b. abt 1875, Illinois;
Ida Belle, b. abt 1878, Illinois;
Lillian Frances, b. 1881, Kansas;
Osa Evelyn, b. 1883, Kansas.

Marsh Honeyman married Elizabeth Ann Willits, daughter of Mary (Shields) and Jesse Willits, on Nov, 27, 1884 in Emma, Harvey County, Kansas. Sometime before 1894 they returned to New Boston, Illinois as they have an infant daughter, Lora born Apr. 28, 1894 and died Apr 29, 1894, buried in the New Boston Cemetery. Marsh and Elizabeth are also buried in the New Boston Cemetery along with his grandfather David and many other family members.
