He was born July 13, 1917, in Atkins, Virginia, a son of Weldon Monroe and Mollie Null Hash.
He was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. An Army veteran of World War II, he came to Waynesboro in 1946, retiring from DuPont after many years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby F. Hash, in 2004; and by his brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry H. and Paige C. Holder of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Jennifer Holder and S. Paige Holder, both of Waynesboro; and a half sister, Jakie Edwards of Scottsville. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2006, at McDow Funeral Home by Dr. Glen A. Holman. Interment will be private in Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006, at McDow Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Sherry.
