Private, Company E, 7th US Cavalry. Killed in action during the Battle of the Little Big Horn, in which General George A. Custer and most of the 7th Cavalry were killed.

He originally enlisted in the Army on 5 Sept 1872, listing his previous occupation as Clerk. He was 5 feet, 7 1/4 inches tall, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a fair complexion. He was not married. During the Battle of the Little Big Horn, his company was with the Custer column, and he was killed near the base of Last Stand Hill during the retreat up the hill. After the battle, the bodies were buried where they fell (today, these positions are marked with grave stones). In 1877, the bodies were reinterred into a Mass Grave at the top of Last Stand Hill.
