Duane was born Aug. 9, 1934 in Grand Rapids to Earl and Alice (Bertram) Anderson. He grew up in LaPrairie and attended Greenway Schools. On May 16, 1954, Duane was united in marriage to Rose Morris and they resided in the Grand Rapids/Cohasset area for many years. Duane worked at the Danube Mine as a truck driver and later was groundskeeper for Sugar Hills Lodge. He also worked for 10 years for Dairyland Electric in maintenance. In 1977, he started Can-Do Disposal Service in Cohasset and retired after several years. Duane was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters, Debora (Kevin) Burns of Maple Grove, Delores (Steve) Vikla of Lonsdale; one son, Dale (Laura) Anderson of Cohasset; two brothers, Roger (Marie) Anderson of Northbrook, Ill., Robert (Carol) Anderson of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. The Rev. Lynn Ronsberg will officiate. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Blackberry Township.
