28 Mar 1883 arrived in New York on the Amerique with his wife, 8 children, his sister and his mother.

The family joined his brother, Joseph, in Turners Falls, Franklin, MA, where they worked in a cutlery. Moved from Turners Falls to Bennington, Hillsborough, NH, where he worked in a Hancock cutlery.

In 1890, moved to Northampton, MA where he worked in the International Silver cutlery. He bought the farm on Burts Pit Road on 16 January 1899 at a tax lien sale by the city.

In June 1922, Jacob, Marie, and their daughter Mary, returned to Switzerland for the last time.

His death was announced on page 1, below the fold, in the Daily Hampshire Gazette morning edition as "Coolidge's Milkman Dies"

JACOB DIEMAND
Jacob Diemand, aged 75 years, a long time respected citizen of this city, died at his home, 267 Burt's Pit road, this morning at three o'clock after an illness of several months. Mr. Diemand was born in Switzerland and came to this country about 45 years ago. He was engaged in cutlery manufacturing in Turners Falls and New Hampshire for a number of years and came to this city to follow that line of work about 38 year ago. For a number of years he has carried on a successful farm on Burt's Pit road. Mr. Diemand was of a quiet and retiring disposition, but was interested in the progress of the city and had many friends and acquaintances. He is survived by his wife and five sons, Joseph, Jacob, Louis, Ernest and William Diemand, all of this city; five daughters, Mrs. James Kelley, Mrs, James Rushford and Mrs. William Slattery, who live in Springfield; Mrs. George Boyle of Hatfield and Mrs. Frank Meehan of this city; one brother, Joseph Diemand of New Hampshire; also several grandchildren. Mr. Diemand was a member of the Improved Order of Red Men and of Blessed Sacrament church. The funeral will be held from his late home, Burt's Pit road, Friday morning at 8:30, followed by requiem high mass at the Blessed Sacrament church at 9:30. The burial will be in the family lot in St. Mary's cemetery.
