MRS. FRANCES SKELTON DIES
Mrs. Frances Morgan Skelton, age 95, died at the home of her grandson, Thomas D. Carlisle, in Sunshine, Monday morning March 14th at 1:30 o'clock following a months illness.
Mrs. Skelton was born in Memphis, Tenn., and moved to Choctaw County thirty-one years ago with her husband, the late Green Skelton, a Confederate War Veteran. To this union sixteen fine boys and girls were born with only seven surviving their mother. For the past six years Mrs. Skelton has lived in Sunshine with her grandson whom she raised, having lived in Butler prior to that time.
Miss Ella Skelton, nurse from Rush Infirmary, Meridian, Miss. nursed her grandmother during the last week of her illness. Mrs. Edith B. Carlisle with other relatives having helped with the nursing also.
Pall bearers were six of her grandsons, J.B. Carlisle, Jessie Carlisle, Jessie T. Skelton, Charlie Skelton, J.T. Skelton and Albert Elmore.
Funeral services were held from the Marvin Church Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, with Rev. J.P. Steele conducting the services, interment following in the Church cemetery, about five miles south of Butler.
She is survived by six sons, Jim, Lum, Ben, George and Joe, one daughter, Mrs. Emma Crosby and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Jones. One hundred grandchildren, seventy five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
