SCIO, Ore - Byron Showalter, 49, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday at his home in Scio. He was born in Salem, the son of Bernard and Miriam (Troyer) Showalter. Byron was raised in Salem and attended Western Mennonite High School before graduating from South Salem High School. Byron was a longtime Hewlett Packard employee and more recently worked for International Gaming Technology on the HP campus. Byron attended Providence Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Byron is loved and greatly missed by his family and friends. Byron and Cheryl Young were married in Lebanon on July 17, 1997. She survives, as do his parents, Bernard and Miriam Showalter of Salem; sons, Joseph Earl Jackson of Stayton, and Jason Richard Jackson of Scio; brothers, Rick Showalter of Albany, and Roger Showalter of Salem; sister, Jeanie Bosman of Bellingham, Washington; six grandchildren; seven nephews and one niece. Viewing will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Providence Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Concluding graveside services will follow at Providence Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Doernbecher Children's Hospital may be sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. SW, Albany, OR 97321. www.fisherfuneralhome.com
