Mr. Jones was a native of Oakdale. He lived in Modesto all his life. He was an engineer for Pacific Bell; he belonged to Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of the Sons In Retirement Society. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1282 and the Odd Fellows Lodge, La Grange. He belonged to E Clampus Vitus and the Old Fishermen's Club. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946; he belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3199 and American Legion Post 74.
He is survived by his children, Judy Klaine and Nancy Baucum, both of Modesto, and Vicki Catelain of Redwood City; sisters,Elsie Handley of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ruby Anderson of Jackson; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the chapel.
