Guy Cox Dies Here Sunday
City Engineer Guy Cox, 60, passed away at the Waseca Memorial hospital at 10:45 p. m., Sunday, Nov. 30. Death was due to a kidney ailment. He had been in poor health for the past ten years. Tuesday of last week, he was taken seriously ill and was rushed to the hospital.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Pfaff Funeral Home with the Rev. N. Green of the Congregational church officiating. Interment was made in Woodville cemetery.
Pall bearers were Aaron Draheim, Andrew Lynch, John Brown, Herman Woyke, Harry Fowler and Phil Brown.
Vinnadge Guy Cox was born in Ames, Iowa, Nov. 17, 1897, the son of John R. Cox and Lucy Cox. He attended the Ames high school and also Ames college of engineering. On February 26, 1913, he married Irene Carr of Ames, Iowa. The young couple came to Waseca in 1917 and lived the rest of their lives in this city. Mr. Cox was city engineer in Waseca for 20 years. In 1920 he was city engineer for Austin and in 1921 served as city engineer at Owatonna, living in Waseca during those years.
Mrs. Cox preceded her husband in death on Oct. 24, 1940. Four children, Russell W. Cox of Wells, R. G. Cox, Slayton, Ruth I. Cox of 1706 Colfax Ave., Minneapolis and W. Roger Cox of Rockford, Ill., survive. Two sisters, Mrs. Sam Long of Ames, Iowa, and Mrs. J. J. Rolland of Sioux City, Iowa, also survive.
