Edward S. Kelley, 88, 706 Liberty Ave., became ill shortly before noon Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Hart, 1271 Old Oxford Rd., and was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital by the Millville Life Squad, where he was dead on arrival. His death was unexpected. He was born August 25, 1882 in Butler County, a son of Jacob and Philomena Lagedrost Kelley, and was educated in St. Joseph Parochial School. For over 50 years he farmed the family farm in Butler County. He enjoyed his occupation, and in his later years was employed by the Butler County Farm Bureau, the Clearing Machine Corporation, and the Klipfel Valve Corporation. He retired from active work when he was 75 years old. On February 6, 1907 he married Anna Huber in St. Peter in Chains Church, and to this union three sons and four daughters were born. The couple enjoyed 64 years of married life. In 1957 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving and received the Papal Blessing. He leaves his wife; two sons, Paul and Robert Kelley, Hamilton; four daughters, Mrs. Edward (Etta) Hart, Mrs. Norbert (Betty) Conrad, Mrs. Jesse (Margaret) Allen, New Port Richey, Fla., and Mrs. LeRoy (Mary) Herbers, Lawndale, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ida Bucheit. Hamilton; 30 grandchildren: 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Louis Kelley, October 17, 1947, and one in infancy; two daughters in infancy. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Colligan Funeral Home, 437 South 3rd St. with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter in Chains Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
