Edgar Bailey was born on Feb. 21, 1877, a son of John and Rebecca (Reed) Bailey. He died on March 17, 1955. He married Lora Ellen Gibson of Boone County on Feb. 23, 1898. They were the parents of five children: Orville, Gertha, Clarence, Glen and Marjorie.

Edgar Bailey, Sr., a farmer of near Lizton, died suddenly at his home Thursday morning. He had been in failing health for some time, following a traffic accident but had been able to be around his farm. He died following a trip to the clover field. The son of John and Rebecca Bailey, he was born February 21, 1877 near Lizton. He was married February 23, 1898 to Miss Lora E. Gibson who survives. He was a member of the Lizton Christian Church, K. of P. Lodge and the Pythias Sisters, and spent his entire life in the Lizton community. Funeral services were Saturday afternoon from the Lizton Christian Church with burial there. Survivors are the widow, Lora; three sons, Orville and Glen of New Ross; Clarence of Pittsboro, and two daughters, Marjorie M. Joslin and Mrs. Gertha Ray, both of Lizton.
