Edgar Dourte Snavely, 92, of Elizabethtown, passed peacefully into the presence of his Savior on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Health South in Mechanicsburg. Born in Rapho Twp., he was the son of the late Jacob B. and Mary Ann (Dourte) Snavely. He was the husband of Anna Shank (Musser) Snavely of Elizabethtown. They were married for 71 years in May.

Mr. Snavely was a past member of Gideons International, Lancaster Camp and Mt. Calvary Church in Elizabethtown.

A salesman, he retired from the Pennfield Corp. and also was previously employed as a salesman for other area mills. Edgar drove truck, worked in service for an automobile dealership, bike sales and repair, Florin Farms, and was employed as chauffer for George H. Adams in Latrobe, PA.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Krista Speas and Mark Snavely; a stepbrother, Monroe Snavely; two stepsisters, Stella Winters and Mammie Snavely; four brothers: Elam, Melvin, Martin, and Wilmer; and three sisters: Esther, Edna, and Ruth.

Mr. Snavely is survived by a daughter, Janet Rosene (Snavely) married to Rev. Ralph F. Speas of Bixby, OK; a son, Jay Richard married to Linda (Stauffer) Snavely of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren: Jon Speas (Shelly), Cindy Brook (Sean), Matt Snavely (Kelly), Wendy Valle (Todd), Dawn Mull (Don), and James Snavely (Paula); and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Kohel of Lititz.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Grace Brethren Church, 305 Anchor Road, Elizabethtown at 2:00 PM. Friends may call on Wednesday at Miller/Sekely Funeral Services, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday at the church from1:00 until the time of service. Interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Gideons International, Lancaster Camp, 1536 Abbas Ave., Lancaster, PA 17602.
