Mattie was the daughter of Moses Meredith Burt and Mary E. Robinson. In 1884 she married Samuel Johnson Harbin son of Balaam Samuel Harben and Mary Ann Grogan. They had 6 children: Rister Balaam Harben, Victor Moses Harben, Myrtle Mary (Harben) Hall, Emma Louise (Harben) Hall, Burt Harben, And Joseph Benjamin Harbin. She died at age 76 survived by all of her children with the exception of Burt who died young.
