Mrs. R. M. Stephenson, one of Neponset's old citizens died at her home in Neponset at one thirty o'clock after a brief illness of two weeks, due to typhoid fever. Mrs. Stevenson was one of the most active workers in the M. E. Church of which she had been a member for many years, having united into church fellowship when she was twelve years old.

Ruby M. Emery was born in Oxford, Grafton County, NH on Nov. 21, 1829. When five years of age, she went with her parents to Ohio and at the age of seven she removed to Trivoi, IL. She had nine children, eight of whom grew to manhood and womanhood.

A daughter of Samuel & Elizabeth Wolf (Young) Emery, she married Dr. Matthew Bullock Van Petten. Their children: Elizabeth Robinson, Samuel, John, Matthew, Mary Trazlier, Ruby Sutphen, Edwin, Abiah Page Van Petten, & Mrs. Bina Burnham of Denver, CO.

The funeral services were conducted from the M.E. Church at eleven o'clock this morning, Rev. J. D. Smith officiating. The funeral was one of the largest ever attended in this vicinity. The interment will be held in the cemetery at Trivoli, IL. This afternoon, the remains being placed beside those of her parents. NP, Friday, Oct. 10. 1902, c. 2
