George DeLong passed away at the home of his son, Albert DeLong in Wolf Point, Montana on Saturday, June 8, 1940, of old age infirmities. He had made his home in Wolf Point for the past seven years.

George Washington DeLong was born in Cedar Township, Washington County, Iowa on Saturday, September l, 1851, the son of David and Martha (McKeever) DeLong. George was raised and attended school in Cedar Township area.

In 1874, George was united in marriage to Nancy Angeline Vandel in Decatur, Iowa. In 1877, the parents and their two children moved to Cass County, Missouri, near the village of Lone Tree. In 1897, the family relocated to Cando, North Dakota bringing their cattle, horses, machinery and household goods by train. They later lived in Rolette County, North Dakota.

Nine children were born to this union. Three daughters died in infancy and six sons survive. They are Archie and Lee of Belcourt, ND, Lester and Clay of Saskatchewan, Canada, and Dan and Albert of Wolf Point, Montana

Funeral services were held on Monday morning in the Catholic Church with Rev. FR. Shevlin officiating. Interment was made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

George was a fine old gentleman and had a large number of friends throughout the section where he had resided. The surviving family has the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
