Information provided by Theron & Helen Smith: He married Irma Ordelia Richey in Irving Park, Cook County, Illinois. John attended MSU for a semester, and then earned an appointment to West Point, graduating in 1914. During WWI he served state side. During WWII he commanded several arsenals here in the states. He was an "outdoors man", hunting, fishing and canoeing. In 1946 they lived in the Richey home on Hess Lake, Newaygo, MI and in the winter they lived in Stuart, Florida.
