Christian Hochstetter was born in Lorch, Wuertemberg, Germany and died in the village of Jordon, Ontario, Canada.

Christian Hochstetter was the step-father of Johann Wilhelm Weinbach, who lost his father when he was only eight years of age.

Following the death of his first wife, widow Elizabeth (Roething) Weinbach, Christian remarried to the widow Sophie (Salzwedel) Piepper, who was born January 9, 1852 in Hoya, Hannover, Germany.

Joined the Ohio Synod, serving in Ft. Wayne, IN and Toledo, OH.

Became the assistant to J.J.A. Grabau and joined the Buffalo Synod 1857.

Joined a Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod church in Buffalo, NY 1867. Pastor at Pittsburgh, PA 1867-1868; Indianapolis, IN 1868-1877; Frohna, MO 1877-1879; Humberstone, Ontario, Canada and Stonebridge, Ontario, Canada 1879-1883; Wolcottsville, NY 1883-1900; Jordan, Ontario, Canada 1900-1905.
