Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crabb Die Suddenly Sunday A.M.
This community was shocked Sunday morning to learn that heart attacks had taken the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crabb, who were found dead at their home in the south part of town, by neighbors. Death occurred August 29, 1954.
THe family physician had been called to their home about half an hour after midnight to treat Mr. Crabb for a heart ailment. Neighbors found both him and his wife dead around 9:30 Sunday morning. Mrs. Crabb was found lying beside the telephone with the telephone directory in her hand, apparently as she tried to summon help. Both had been in failing health for several years.
Both Mr. Crabb, 74, and his wife, the former Eva Asper, 69, were born near Pontiac, Illinois. They were married in 1905 and had resided in the Remington vicinity since 1918, moving to town from Gilboa Township in 1937. He was a retired farmer. They were members of the Remington Methodist church.
Surviving them are three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Horn of South Bend, Mrs. Marguerite Brown of Indianpolis, Mrs. Helen Dowell of Lafayette and one granddaughter, Judy Brown. Mr. Crabb is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Dora Cornwell of Hammond, Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips of Hicksville, Ohio. Mrs. Crabb's survivors include a brother, Jack Asper of Pontiac, Ill., three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Taylor of
Cullom, Ill, Mrs. Rena Topke of Chenoa, Ill., and Mrs. Lottie Holt of Pontiac, Ill.
