24 Nov 1913: John Oberly, for many years one of the best known fence builders in this city and county, died at 7:15 o'clock on Sunday morning at the Oberly home, on Front Street; near Schaefferstown road, aged 77 years. He was first stricken two years ago, following which time, he was unable to follow his occupation. Mr. Oberly was a son of Joseph Oberly, a native of Switzerland, who came to America many years ago. He leaves his wife and these children; Mrs. Charles Saunders, Harrisburg; Mrs. Samuel Simpson, California; John Oberly, this city; George Oberly, Bellwood; Mrs. Lucy Royer, Miss Cecelia Oberly and Edward Oberly, at home. A sister, Mrs. Joseph Fisher, also survives. He was a member of St, Mary's Catholic Church and funeral services will be held there tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, [Lebanon Daily News]
