Funeral service for Marilyn "June" (Moss) Burks, age 78, former resident of Frederick, Oklahoma, of Wichita Falls, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jarrell Kuykendall, pastor, Bethesda Worship Center, Wichita Falls, officiating.

Mrs. Burks passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010, in Wichita Falls, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Burial will be in the Davidson Cemetery, Davidson, Oklahoma, under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, of Frederick, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

She was born March 14, 1932, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to James Edward and Wilma Gladys (Johnson) Moss. She grew up in Frederick. She was united in marriage to Alvin Burks on August 25, 1951, at Davidson, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2005. She received her GED at Midwestern in Wichita Falls. She attended Vernon Regional College and received EMT training. She worked as a nurse at McCracken Nursing Service, Bethania Hospital for 40 years, and at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1992. Then, she served as a volunteer for the Ladies Auxiliary at Frederick Memorial Hospital as well as volunteering for the American Red Cross. She had attended the First Assembly of God Church, in Frederick, but more recently attended and was a member of Bethesda Worship Center, in Wichita Falls, Texas. June will be remembered for her passionate devotion and commitment to God and her family. The family will remember her sense of humor, love of music and dedication to her grandchildren. "We will cherish every memory and always hold them in our hearts."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Cynthia "Kay" Raasch; a son, Gary L. Burks; and a brother, Ted Allen Moss.

Survivors include a brother, Bob Edward Moss and wife Jean, of Carlsbad, New Mexico; a daughter-in-law, Linda Burks, of Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren, Julie Outlaw, Gary Alton Burks, Jennifer Brock, Amber Arnold, Christopher Raasch, Amanda Chavira, Scott Brake and Kristi Harman; and 15 great-grandchildren, Devon, Camryn, Mark, Brycen, Ashley, Jason, Josh, Taylor, Katlyn, Tanner, Erin, Tyler, Colten, Wil and Kyllie.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Delizio and his staff for many years of devoted care to their grandmother.
