James M.Burke, 74, former North Platte resident, died this morning in Phoenix, Ariz. A retired locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad, he was born Sept 4, 1890 in Craig, Mo., coming to North Platte in 1920 where he hired out to the railroad. He retired in 1959 and moved to Phoenix. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the B. of L.E. Survivors include his wife Dorothy ; two daughters, Mrs E.L.(Patricia)Pelton and Mrs Raymond (Jeanne) Langford, both of North Platte; one son, James of Phoenix, Ariz.; one stepdaughter, Mrs Frances Freeze of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, John of Saint Joseph, Mo. and Bill of Fresno, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His remains will be returned to North Platte for funeral services and burial.
