Betty Jean Corbett, 78, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. Betty was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Chicago to Elwood and Vernie (McCready) Hanes. She graduated from Mount Morris High School, Class of 1949. Betty married Floyd Eugene "Corby" Corbett on April 17, 1949, in Mount Morris. She worked as a secretary for the vice president general manager of Kable Printing Co., retiring Feb. 1, 1992. Betty was a member of the Mount Morris Ladies of the Moose, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Sunset Golf Club. Betty loved bowling, bridge club, golf, cooking, watching the Cubs and the Bulls play, and she loved her family get-togethers. Survived by husband, Gene Corbett of Mount Morris; son, Ronald E. Corbett of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter, Jenny (Michael Bevill) Gann of Tonopah, Ariz.; grandchildren, Peggy (Jeff) Cox of Mount Morris, Paula Brevig of Glendale, Ariz., Jennifer (Erik Diaz) Corbett of Mesa, Ariz., Erin Corbett and Brittany (Darren) Brown, both of Orion; great-grandchildren, Zachary Cox of Mount Morris, Taylor and Tatum Brevig of Glendale, Marissa Corbett-Villa and Isabella Diaz, both of Mesa, Kylee and Kamyrn Brown, both of Orion; brother, Dennis (Pat) Hanes of Cincinnati; and sister, Dorie (Al) Hollman of Litchfield Park, Ariz. She is preceded in death by parents; son, Fredrick; and brothers, Thomas and Robert Hanes.
