End came Saturday afternoon from the effects of two operations.


The body will lie in state at Lodge Home after 4 p.m. today. Was a promient contractor. Enjoyed fraternal honors with Elks.

Eugene Wallace Fiske, for many years well-known in the contracting business, and one of the most prominent Elks in Montana, died at 4:30 yesterday afternoon at St. Peter's hospital. His passing was from the effects of two operations he submitted to within the past three months.

Resided her since 1888. Mr. Fiske was a native of Booneville, N.Y., born 69 years ago. He came to Helena in 1888, since which time he was successfully engaged in building and general contracting.

The surviving immediate relatives are his widow and his daughter Miss Gail at the family home, 401 Montana Avenue; and daughters Mrs. R.T. Hopkins of Helena and Mrs. L.K. Pool of Townsend, and sons, Kenneth B. Fiske of Chicago, and John M. Fiske of Boston, and Two brothers, Edgar L Fiske of Helena, and J.A. Fiske of Booneville, N.Y. Mrs. Pool has arrived from Townsend, and messages have been dispatched to the relatives at the far-distant points.

Elk Funeral Monday
The funeral will be under the auspices of the Helena Lodge of Elks, the service to take place at 2:30 p.m., Monday at the Lodge home on Broadway. The Rev. James F. McNamee, D. D., pastor of the First Baptist church of Montana, will officiate. Burial will be in Forestvale. The body is at the Foidel chapel on North Main street until 4 p.m. today, at which hour it will be taken to the Lodge home, to lie in state until the funeral hour.

The pallbrares will be G.F. Carpenter, J.W. Christie, Dr. D. J. Wait, H.G. Pickett, John Glass and Frank Richolt.

Many times honored by Elks.
Mr. Fiske was a past exalted ruler of Helena Lodge of Elks, having served in 1904-1905. He was also for many years a trustee of the Lodge. He served two terms as district deputy grand exalted ruler, and was past president of the State association.

The death of Mr. Fiske is the cause of sorrow to very many citizens of Helena and other parts of Montana. Generous and big-hearted, it was many times truly said of him that he was an "apostle of optimism," in both his theroy and practice.

Was active in War-work
He was one of the most active of Helena citizens in War-work giving his time and engery freely in Liberty Loan and other campaigns.
