Dorothy J "June" Schlegel, 78, formerly of Reading, died Friday at 8:55 a.m. in her residence at 52 Berger School Road, Bernville. Her husband, Forrest W. Schlegel, died March 7, 1988. Born in Herndon, Northumberland County, she was a daughter of the late William and Arlene (Walt) Herrold. Schlegel was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Reading. She is survived by four daughters: Caroline J. (Owen) Sherman, Burkburnett, Texas; Marlene (Owen) Bribi, Sunbury, Northumberland; Georgia K. (Owen) Kershner, with whom she last resided; and Cindy (Schlegel) English, Bethel. Other survivors include a brother, Roy Herrold, Lewisburg, Union County; and two sisters Nancy (Herrold) Maurer and Doris (Herrold) Sosnowski, both of Shamokin, Northumberland County. There are also 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Schlegel was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy (Owen) Shingara, on Nov. 8, 1968. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Cramp Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in the Charles Evans Cemetery.
