RURAL HALL - Mrs. Anna Sue Huie Whitaker, 66, passed away at her home on Friday, October 22, 2010. She was born on November 4, 1943 in Wilkes Co. to the late Challie B. Huie and Flora Cleary Huie. Mrs. Whitaker was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church in Germanton and the Ladies Fellowship at the Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Lee Holbrook and Mattie Ruth Styers. Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Richard C. Whitaker of the home, one sister, Betty A. Campbell of Winston-Salem, three brothers, Challie R. Huie of Rural Hall, John I. Huie (Teresa) of Elizabeth City and Jeffrey S. Huie (Brenda) of Tobaccoville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Whitaker will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at Bannertown Baptist Church in Germanton with Bro. Don Charles officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. this evening, October 24, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
