Morris Connor, 79, of 212 Fourth avenue, for the last 45 yeas a billposter and theatrical transfer man, died at his home at 5:15 a.m., yesterday, of complications, incident to old age.
He was born at Odgensburg, New York, May 22, 1848.
When a young man he went west engaging in the dairy business and later beginning his theatrical career as a bill poster with the Burr-Robbins circus. He continued in that business affiliating himself with various circuses and shows until he settled in Altoona about 40 years ago. At first he engaged only in the bill posting business but later added the theatrical transfer.
He was married twice, the first time to Miss Elizabeth Osmond, Coatesville. She died in 1898. He married Miss Sarah F. Bennett, June 17, 1898.
Surviving are his wife, five sons, Maurice, Richard, and William, all at home; John, of Altoona, and Charles of New York; four daughters, Frances and Eylsia, at home; Mrs. Gerald Shollar, Altoona; and Mrs. John Solar, West Chester; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic church.
Funeral services, with requiem mass will be conducted at the church at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
The body has been removed to the Stevens mortuary where it may be viewed at any time prior to the services.
