Minton Warren graduated from Tufts College in 1870; then went on to Strasburg University in Germany for a Ph. D.

On his return to the U. S. A. he first taught Latin and Classical Studies at the high school level before moving to John's Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 1899, Minton was called to Harvard as Professor of Latin because he is considered "the most eminent of Latin scholars of America."

His career was cut short when he died suddenly of a stroke.
