Lon Fisher died at his home his home in this city Thursday. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Saturday with interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
Obituary
Alonzo Fisher, son of Albert and Catherine Crone Fisher, was born Sept. 11, 1868, on a farm near Champaign, Ill.
In February, 1880, the family came to Iowa, settling on a farm near Webster City. Lon, as he was always known, received his education in the schools of Webster City and of Wright county, where the family moved in 1884.
Coming into manhood, he was associated with his father on the farm for a few years, and on Dec. 22, 1891, he was married to Delia M. Griffith, and they established a home on a farm east of Eagle Grove. All his life he was a farmer, interested in the welfare and the problems of the farmer, although for some years he was not actively engaged on the farm, having been with the late W. C. Smith in the grain business for a time and manager of the Farmers Cooperative Co. of this place during a period of 25 years, having helped in its organization and becoming its first manager.
He was a member of the First Baptist church of Eagle Grove, being baptized into membership March 4, 1900, and his church found him a faithful and generous member, giving most efficient service in the various offices he held.
Death came to him after months of ill health, on the morning of Jan. 13, 1938. His wife, one son and three daughters are left to mourn one whose kindly devotion to his family made their home a place of comfort and happiest associations, and their fireside a place of great contentment.
The children are Norman Fisher, Mrs. Glenn Baker, Mrs. Oved Watson and Mrs. Richard Knutson, all living near Eagle Grove. He is also mourned by five grandchildren, four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends and business associates.
