Evelyn K. Butler October 12, 1924 - May 9, 2021 Gilbertsville, NY. Evelyn, (96) was born in Lynbrook, Long Island, NY and passed into eternity at her beloved southern home Mebane Ridge Assisted Living in North Carolina. Evelyn loved the Butternut Valley, living there for most of her life. First on the Maple Leaf Farm in Maple Grove where her family moved to when she was 12 years old; then as a young adult moved to the Village of Gilbertsville for the next 77 years. As her health declined in 2019, she headed south to Mebane, NC for warmer weather and less snow. In 1942 Evelyn was a member of the first graduating class at the "new" Gilbertsville Central School building. She married Louis E. Butler June 10, 1944. Together they raised three daughters Gail (Paul) Ellis of Haw River, NC, Linda Bowker of Mt. Upton, NY, Carol (John) Cosgrove of Camillus, NY. She is also survived by her sweet sister-in-law Anna Butler, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Lillie and William Kroder, her husband of 48 years Louis (Louie) Butler, brothers George (Viola), Robert (Mary Jane) Kroder, special friend Ernie Wild, and nephews Johnny Goodspeed & Ronald Butler. She enjoyed her grandchildren and their families Andrew (Nancy) Ellis, Aimee (Scott) McMillan, Stephanie O'Hara, Conor Cosgrove, Hayley Cosgrove, and Nathan Winans. Great grandchildren Zachary, Justin, Aaron, Caleb, Rebekah, Bradley, Daniel, Garrett, Nathaniel, and Timothy Ellis. Henry (Tyler), Louis (Riley), and Peyton McMillan. Liam and Lottie Pfeffer.

Evelyn volunteered for several years with an inner city Fresh Air program, which brought children to Upstate NY giving her a long time joy in sponsoring and knowing Caesar Vencebi, who survives.

Evelyn also donated her time freely to several organizations such as the local 4-H, Girl Scouts, Gilbertsville Central School, Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary, and at the First Presbyterian Church in Gilbertsville where she was a member since she was 13. Evelyn worshipped there under Rev. Roger Beach and later Rev. Mark Piedmont serving as an elder. She also was a member of the choir, and numerous committees. In the south, she faithfully attended Beacon Baptist Church where she made many new special friends. She also worked at Cintilla, and then later for the Town of Butternut as Tax Collector and Town Clerk for 33 years.

Special thanks to the Hospice staff, the Mebane Ridge Community for their love and caring, Beacon Baptist Church Family, especially Pastor Robert LaTour, and the many expressions of love from nieces & nephews. Evelyn was sacrificial in her love for her family. She gave so freely of her creative ability and time, making handmade dolls, knitted mittens, hats and blankets. She loved all of nature, especially flowers. She loved her communities and so loved her church families. However, in lieu of flowers, please send your donations to the Gilbertsville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 314, Gilbertsville, NY 13776 or Butternut Cemetery Association, P.O.
