Lela Marie Andrews, daughter of Warren and Pearl (Hickle) Wilson, was born Aug. 21, 1909 in Lucas County, Iowa. She passed away on Nov. 6, 2000, at the Lucas County Health Center in Chariton at the age of 91.
On March 12, 1938, Lela was united in marriage to Keith Andrews, in Indianola, Iowa. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Lela was the ideal homemaker. She took tremendous pride in her home, especially her cooking. She was a wonderful cook and her meals were enjoyed by family, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Pearl; sisters, Merle and Hazel; and one brother, Lindsey Wilson.
Lela is survived by her devoted husband, Keith, of Russell; four brothers, Dwight and Glen Wilson, both of Mountain Home, Ark., Lloyd Wilson of Chariton, and Walter Wilson of Larimer, Iowa; two sisters, Margaret Caylor and Dorothy Holloway, both of Chariton, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton with Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Honorary bearers included Chuck Moon, Carl Werts, Mike Holmes, Mike Beaty, Jason McCall and Roger Pierce. Interment will be held at a later date in the Russell Cemetery.
