"Gilbert Nicholas Hall was the only child born to Andrew William and Myrta "Myrtie" Leona (Nichols) Hall on December 21, 1897, in Brighton, Lorain County, Ohio. On his World War I Draft Registration Card completed on September 12, 1918, in Lorain County, he indicated that he was an invalid and was described as of medium height, slender build, with blue eyes and dark brown hair. "
