After 30 years in the United States Air Force, Cecil retired as Senior Master Sergeant. He was a B-29 crew chief during World War II. Cecil later changed to the machinist field, and when he retired in 1969, he owned and operated Cese's Welding Shop in Rantoul, Illinois.
Cecil and Rosalie made Rantoul their home. After retirement, they stayed in Tucson, Arizona during the winter months and in 1995, they made their stay permanent.
(Although there is a headstone for Cecil and Rosalie at the Maplewood Cemetery in Rantoul, Champaign County, Illinois, their bodies were actually cremated and their ashes were scattered at Sanctuary Cove in Tucson in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains.)
