Hugh was the son of Robert Henry Fordyce & Bertha Delilah Ramey. Hugh grew up in Urbana Indiana. Hugh was married to Luella Peterson on November 3, 1928. They had one son named Delyle Hugh Fordyce. Their union was short lived, and Hugh died of cancer of the stomach in 1933 at the young age of 26. Hugh was working as a cabinet maker at the time of his death. Hugh's father and mother are buried in Speicher Cemetery as well. Hugh has three grandsons (Michael, Patrick, and Brian) as well as two granddaughters Cynthia Kay and Diane Lynn). Hugh Jefferson Fordyce has great-grandsons Jason Michael Fordyce and Kyle Matthew Fordyce of Santa Clarita California that carry on the Fordyce family line which orginated with James Fordyce in Aberdeenshire Scotland 1687. The first Fordyce born to this bloodline in the United States was James Fordyce born 2 June 1714 in South Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island.
