GIFFORD — Emma Vogelsang, 97, of Gifford went to be with Jesus on Saturday evening (Nov. 10, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

She was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Ogden, a daughter of Frank and Gertie Sieberns. She married Charles Vogelsang on July 5, 1940, in Royal. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 2003.

She is survived by four children, Allan (Donna) Vogelsang of Rantoul, Judy (Rick) Brick of Clayton, Calif., James Vogelsang of Louisville, Ky., and Tom (Ginny) Vogelsang of Gifford; a sister, Grace Hoveln of Penfield; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Emma was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Gifford. She sang in the church choir for several years.

She led her life to the fullest and enjoyed her family, sewing, handwork, cooking, baking and playing cards and dominos. She was an avid Cubs fan.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Scott Guhl will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at Beckman Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s or Country Health. Lux Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements.
