AND

Adele Louise Harris was the second child and oldest daughter of Everett Clyde Harris and Clarabelle (Belle) Russell Harris. She was born 30 May 1917 in Ogden, Weber, Utah. She spent the early years of her life in a small railroad stop on the Central Pacific line known as Roselle. Adele was one of 10 children, 6 girls and 4 boys. Active in the LDS church all of her life, she served an LDS mission to Virginia, where she suffered a brain aneurysm and died. Her body was returned home to her parents, and buried in the Aultorest Mausoleum.

AND

Adele Louise was born May 30, 1917, the second of ten children and the oldest daughter. She was dark haired and brown eyed like my grandmother. She had the most outgoing personality of her six sisters. She liked to sing and was involved in any musical opportunities she could find. She could play anything on the piano and often accompanied while her siblings sang, even though she’d never had piano lessons! (Her brother, my father, could play by “ear” as well). She served as the Jr. Sunday School Chorister in her ward when she was a young woman. She also loved to read. She attended business college right out of high school.

Adele moved to San Francisco with her job as a teletype operator. She was living there in 1939 when the World Fair was held. She lived there for two years before she was able to transfer to Salt Lake City. She rented a room in the Beehive House while living in Salt Lake.

At 26 years old, Adele decided to serve a mission for the church and was called to the East Central States Mission. Many people had commented about her love of spiritual things. For a very short time Adele was part of a tri-companionship, three girls serving because one had been released and gone home. One of her companions was a Leone Balli, who would grow up to be my mother in law! After only five months in the mission field my grandparents got a call that their oldest daughter, Sister Adele Harris, had died of a brain aneurysm; it was March 10, 1944, she was 27 years old.
