Harvey S. Boger, a nineteen-year-old father, died in Lebanon Sanatorium at 4:05 a.m. Sunday from a .22 caliber gunshot wound of the chest that Dr. Patrick J. Frank, Lebanon County coroner, said was self-inflicted. The Sanatorium said that the shooting occurred in his bedroom at his home, at 436 N. 4th St., at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. He was admitted to the Sanatorium, where he was taken in an ambulance of the First Aid and Safety Patrol unit of the Lebanon Fire Department, at 11:45 p.m. Boger failed to respond to blood transfusions and Dr. Frank said that death resulted from massive hemorrhages of the lungs, collapse of the left lung and escape of air into the sub-skin tissues of the neck, chest and abdomen. The bullet struck the fourth and fifth ribs and after piercing the entire chest lodged to the right of the spinal column. The Sanatorium said that it learned that the youth had been despondent and had moved about two weeks ago to his parents' home, where the shooting took place. Boger's wife, Mrs. Dolores M. (Williams) Boger, filed suit for divorce, charging indignities, in the Lebanon County Court Friday. The wife lives at 1031 Lehman. St. The couple was married Jan; 17, 1953, the suit declared. In addition to his wife and son, Harvey S. Boger, Jr., Boger is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Boger, a brother, Harry W, Boger, Jr. Lebanon; and three sisters, Mrs. Howard Barry, Annville, and the Misses Sara Elizabeth and Nancy Irene, both at home. Boger was formerly employed at the concentrator plant of the Bethlehem Steel Co. here and was a member of one of the Lebanon units of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Known in baseball circles as "Sammy" Boger, the dead youth was a pitcher last year in the Lebanon Junior League and started in the Lebanon Valley League this year with the Avon Browns, by whom he was released a short time ago.
