Glace Bay -- Mrs. Sarah MacDonald, 88, died Wednesday morning at Glace Bay General Hospital, where she was a patient for the past week. Mrs. MacDonald was born here but lived for over 60 years in Birch Grove. She had been in poor health for several years.
She was the daughter of the late Allen and Marcella MacIntyre.
Mrs. MacDonald was twice married. She was predeceased by both husbands, Neil MacPherson and Archie MacDonald.
Survivors from the second marriage are, daughters (Sadie) Mrs. Rannie Frank, Birch Grove; (Pearl) Mrs. Pringle MacDonald, Birch Grove; (Mary) Mrs. Donald David, Kingston, Ont.; (Marcella) Mrs. William King, Toronto; (Violet) Mrs. Linden Smith, Lower Sackville, N.S.; (Reta) Mrs. Sam Turnbull, Calgary; and a son, Arthur MacDonald, Port Morien. Sons, Ramsay and Ralph, died.
Mrs. MacDonald is survived from her first marriage by a son, Max MacPherson, Glace Bay; and a daughter, (Nora) Mrs. James Rogers, Buffalo, N.Y. One sister survives, Mrs. Alice Foley, Glace Bay.
She was predeceased by sisters, Kate and Mary Flora, and brothers, Dannie, Lauchie. Her sons, Allan, Ramsay and Ralph.
There are 84 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. MacDonald was a member of MacKay Memorial United Church in Birch Grove.
The body will rest at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Pringle MacDonald, Birch Grove. The funeral services will likely take place Saturday with arrangements to be announced.
