ED AWAY AT KALAMAZOO.

Mrs. Martin Harter died last Friday at the home of her daughter in Kalamazoo, where she had gone the week before for a visit. Harter was born May 2nd, 1827, in Columbia county, Pennsylvania, being 84 years old last May. She was married to Martin Harter fifty-eight years ago last February. Seven children were born to them Dora I., Lewis L., Laura D., Charles E., Luella P., Sherman C., and Myron W., all of whom survive, except Sherman who passed away September 16, 1881. Eighteen grand children and eleven great grand children also survive, besides her aged husband and a host of friends. She was an honored member of the Woman's Relief Corps, where she will be greatly missed. Mr. and Mrs. Harter came to Michigan October 20, 1858 settling on a farm four and one-half miles northwest of Otsego, where they, resided until about 28 years ago when they moved to the village, where they have since resided. Those who attended the funeral from away were M. W. Harter and family from Elkhart, Ind., Myron Squires and family of Plainwell, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Harter of Kalamazoo, D. V. Chamberlin and family of Kendall. The remains were brought to her home here Saturday afternoon, and the funeral was held from the house Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. R. Clark.
