Tennison Unap Funeral Services Are Held Friday
Funeral services for Tennison Unap, 71-year-old Carnegie Indian were held at 2 p.m. last Friday from the First Baptist church, with Albert Cody officiating. Rev. J.J. Methvin, pastor of the Memorial Indian church at Anadarko, assisted.
Unap died late last Wednesday night after a two-day critical illness.
Unap was born in Indian territory and had lived most of his life in Caddo county. He had lived on a farm two and one-half miles southeast of Carnegie until about 10 years ago, when he moved to Anadarko.
He joined the old Cedar-Creek church in 1928, the ceremonies being directed by Rev. Kicking Bird and Rev. Matthew Botone. He later became active as a Sunday school teacher and was first vice president of the Epworth League. Unap was active in church activities, having played an important role in building the present Cedar Creek church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elsie Unap of Anadarko; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Tanedooh of Carnegie; a son, Johnson Unap of Hominy.
