Ether Spackman
Ether Spackman, 82, died Thursday at his home in Preston following a long illness.

He was born Nov. 23, 1887 in Lewiston, son of Henry Spackman and Sarah Rawlings Spackman.

He resided in Lewiston until 1949, then moved to Preston where he spent the remainer of his life. He engaged in farming and dairying operations and through the years was recognized with honors for his dairy herds.

On Nov. 28, 1917 he married Rodelpha May Stoddard in the Logan LDS Temple. She died July 10, 1926. He married Asenath LaVern Potter Feb. 1, 1928.

Active in the LDS Church, Mr. Spackman was a high priest in the Preston 3rd Ward at the time of death. He served an LDS mission to Japan (1912-1916) and has been a teacher in the various church auxiliaries.

Mr. Spackman was a wellknown supporter of sports in the Cache Valley area.

Survivors indude his wife, Preston; six children ,Garth Spackman, Pocatello, Ida.; Boyd Spackman, Ogden; Verdell Spackman, Preston; Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Andrew, Rockford, Ida.; Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Spendlove, Bountiful; Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Schen and Mrs. Arlo (Nona) Egbert, both of Ogden; 35 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brothers and sister Rulon Spackman, Ogden; Thomas Spackman, Tremonton; Hazen Spackman, Logan; Gertrude McKnight, Nampa, Ida.; Ethyl Ransom, Lewiston.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 pm in Preston 3rd Ward LDS Chapel with Stephen Noyes, first counselor in the bishopric, officiating. Friends may call at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and at the Preston 3rd Ward Chapel two hours prior to services Monday. Burial will be in the Richmond City Cemetery.
