Minor "Captain" Jones was my 2nd Great Grand Uncle. He served in Company A of the 49th Kentucky Infantry. He Mustered-in on 27 June 1863 as an 18 year-old Corporal. He Mustered-out on 26 Dec 1864 as an 18 year-old Private (per the documents). It seems he got drunk one night, stole the Captain's uniform, and made the men march all night in the rain. This was discovered that morning. Minor was court-martialed, demoted, and forever nicknamed "Captain".
