He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. On June 22, 1946 Harold was united in marriage to Evelyn Louise Sneed. He and his wife have been life long members of the Clever United Methodist Church.
He worked for and later managed Wampler and Sons Gas Company in Clever. He then worked as a Deputy Sheriff in Christian County, Missouri, until 1973 when he was appointed Deputy Juvenile Officer for the 38th Judicial Circuit of Missouri. Harold later became the Chief Juvenile Officer, retiring from that position in 1991. He continued to work for the court as the court bailiff until 2001.
His parents; two brothers, Sidney and Bill; and one sister, Joan, preceded Harold in death.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, who continues to live in Clever; a son, Ronald Stephen Wampler and his wife, Jacqueline, Ozark; a daughter, Deanne Gayle Wampler, Springfield; two grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Wampler and his wife, Cathy, Nixa, and David Wampler and his wife, Carolyn, Springfield; a sister in law, Betty Wampler, Nixa; and many other relatives and close friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2010, in Meadors Funeral Home, Clever. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, in the United Methodist Church in Clever, with Reverend Mary Ann Morris and Pastor Regina Bohannon officiating, under the direction of the funeral home. Burial will follow the service, with Military Honors, in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Clever.
