Notes for Sylvanus Nash from Rev. Sylvester Nash, 1853
"He lived in Greenfield and was in company with his father and his brother Daniel in building mills. He was one of the partisans of the famous Captain Shays, in 1789. This is the case, to which allusion has already been made, of brother being arrayed against brother. His brother, Tubel, was an office in Captain Arms' Company on the government side. It is said they were both worthy men. Sylvanus is spoken of as a man of great firmness and decision of character and of extraordinary muscular powers."
