Donald Hinman

Donald Hinman, 81, of Niota, Ill., died at 2:03 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born March 12, 1929, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Orville and Evelyn Privia Hinman. On Sept. 4, 1948, he married E. Joan Zern in Dallas City, Ill.

Mr. Hinman worked 13 years for Santa Fe Railroad and 23 years for Chevron Chemical Co. in Fort Madison, retiring as shift supervisor in 1985. He graduated from Dallas City High School in 1948. He was a member of ILIAMO Camping Club in Keokuk and Goldwing Road Riders Club in Burlington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and motorcycling.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathryn Duncan of Niota and Deborah Edmiston of Davenport; one son, Mathew Hinman of Loose Creek, Mo.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

No visitation is planned.

The graveside funeral for Mr. Hinman will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Harris Cemetery near Dallas City.

A memorial has been established for Fort Madison Community Hospital.
