Dragnet Stretched for Slayer of Girl

After forty hours of tireless effort on the part of the detectives to fathom the mysterious murder of Miss Florence Brown in the real estate office of Robinson & Styron Monday morning, chief J. H. Tanner of the local detective department and Chief of Police J. W. Ryan late last night admitted that their work has thus far proven absolutely futile and they know little or nothing more in connection with the case than they did half an hour after the tragedy.

The officers have run down rumor after rumor and investigated scores of possible clews [sic] and in each instance have wound up just about where they began. No arrests have been made, nor, they declare, is anyone under serious suspicion.

The dragnet has been thrown out all over North Texas, where officers are watching for suspicious persons, outside detectives have come to assist on the case, the entire police and Sheriff's departments are giving their services, yet the motive and identity of the assassin remains as much a mystery as ever.

It was announced that the funeral of Miss Brown will be held at the McKinney Avenue Baptist Church at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. J. H. Moore, the pastor, officiating. The burial will be in Oakland Cemetery The active pallbearers will be W. R. Styron, G. W. Swor, C. D. Burton, Karl Palmer, Tilden Jackson, and Homer Fisher.

The funeral was postponed until J. D. Robinson, an uncle, and Perry Brown, a brother, could come from Colorado. They will reach Dallas tomorrow morning.
